With deep sadness, SSRC mourns the sudden death of Council member Dr. Yoon Duk (Debbie) Kim. Debbie was an Assistant Professor in Construction Engineering at Texas A&M University – Commerce. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Hanyang University with a B.S. in Architectural Engineering, and earned M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. Debbie was an expert in behavior, design and stability of bridge and building systems. She taught a wide range of courses in structural mechanics and design and construction management and planning. Debbie was an active member of AISC, ASCE and SSRC. We fondly remember her friendship, enthusiasm and cheerful smile, and her significant contributions to stability research – she will be missed. Debbie is survived by her daughter.
